Baeddon's Guide to Kiting
Though you can use this technique at level 1, it really becomes safer at level 14. High Wisdom values help to, as you will be able to kite longer as you will have more mana.
What is Kiting? Kiting is slowing down your enemy (and/or speeding up yourself) and then running from the enemy. After you get a distance away from the enemy, stop, cast a spell, run a distance, cast a spell, etc. Kiting can be very safe or very dangerous. You'll want to harmonize the enemy first. If you kite a "social" being, other monsters of that type will join in the chase (this is bad). Also, if you are level 14 or higher, your opening attack should be Stinging Swarm (or that line of spell). This is a Damage over Time (DoT) spell that chips away from the enemies health as it chases you as opposed to 1 time direct hit (Direct Damage or DD).
Kiting is usually done solo, but not always. If you are an animal killer, you can also do something called reverse kiting. Snare the animal and then cast a fear spell on the animal. They will then wrong in the other direction and can thus whack away at its life.
If you master this skill, you can solo many mobs that would otherwise be impossible to kill.
